There are lineups of bidders everywhere, jostling for a chance to get their bid in on their favorite items before the auction closes.
I finally make my way up to the front and when I look down, I am shocked, to see the last bid at forty-five thousand dollars. My heart thunders in my chest, my knees go weak, and I can’t seem to breathe. I lean down and put my hands on the table, trying to force breath into my lungs. DARIAN BLACK, printed in strong bold strokes, stares back up at me.
Holy shit, holy shit, HOLY SHIT!
Is it him?
No, it can’t be…can it?
Holy fucking shit!
I straighten up, smooth down my dress, and down the rest of my champagne, trying to calm myself as I step away from the table. My heart thunders in my chest. I slowly turn around and smile, hoping I look calm and put together and not like the freaking mess I am on the inside. Forcing myself to take slow, measured breaths, I spot a server and decide another glass of champagne is exactly what I need right now. I walk over on shaky legs and carefully exchange my now empty flute for a full one.
As I’m bringing the bubbly lifesaving elixir to my parched lips, my eyes flit around the room and land on a pair of brilliant blue eyes staring back at me. The man they are attached to is gorgeous, tall, tanned—in other words, sex on legs. In fact, I don’t think there is a woman on the planet who wouldn’t want this man’s attention. His bright blue eyes are focused on me like two laser beams. His lips—full, beautiful lips— quirk up at the sides as he tips his glass my way. His tall muscular frame stands out above the crowd, his body lean and hard beneath his fitted black tux. His dark brown hair has caramel highlights like he’s recently been in the sun; it’s slightly long and curls around his ears just like I remember. Suddenly, he is headed my way, his strides long and calculated. A panther on the prowl hunting, and I am the prey.
Oh God!
It’s him, Darian Black, my first love, my obsession, the man who haunts my sexy dreams.
